Friday, August 22nd turned out to be the perfect day to start our trip to Canada! To bad the finish wasn't as perfect as the start! We had a great crew for this trip including a visit from a Kiwi Ducatista; Michael Fitzpatrick.

Day 1
Michael recently purchased a Monster 696 from Motocorsa during his extended vacation here in the Northwest and was looking for some riding companions to break in his new ride; so we were more than happy to oblige him. Turbo, Don Green, Chris Loucks, Lynette, and myself were seen off at Starbucks in St. Helens, OR by Larry Hess and his dog Grizzly. Filling up on coffee we all headed off to Port Angeles to make the 5:15 ferry to Victoria. Our plan was to take us along route 4 out to the Astoria area and then back east to 101 along the Hood Canal up to the ferry terminal. With Turbo leading the way, we were making good time until a slow pack of fellow riders checked our pace. After making our way past them we were stumped again by road construction and sat for about 25 minutes until we were allowed to pass. With the time delays we were forced to shorten our route and take the 101 earlier than planned. Just as we approached the southern end of the Hood Canal |

DUCATI PACIFICA WORLD SUPER BIKE RIDE |
|
After all the planning, plotting and logistics, (thanks to Mike Andrews) we were finally on our way to the WSBK races at Miller Motorsport Park the weekend of 30 May in Tooele, Utah.
DAY 1 With our special guest all the way from Italy, Fabio Baldelli, President of Desmoboys D.O.C. in Reggio, Italy came along to provide us with the best in Italian companionship! Meeting up at Edgefield Brewery on Thursday, 29 May for breakfast and a quick route recap, we saddled up 5 ST’s and one monster in a light rain. Our goal was to make it to Ontario the first night through the central and eastern Oregon twisties. The roads were great although they remained wet most of the day; we will definitely have to hit them again in the dry season. Pulling into the Best Western in Ontario, we soon discovered that no restaurants were open and we had to work at getting pizza delivered to the hotel. So with a few beers and pizza we sat in the pool room and plotted the next day. |

DucatiPacifica visits Motoczysz! |
|
On Friday, 8 Feb 2008, DucatiPacifica was treated to a personal tour along with a Q&A session with Michael Czsyz. Motoczysz is a local Portland motorcycle company that is taking motorcycle and Moto GP racing technology to the next level.
Meeting with Ray Crepeau at 2 pm in the company’s future production shop, members of DucatiPacifica were given the ground rules for our tour. Leading us into the media room for a company description and videos on the Motoczysz project gave us a great overview of what the company is accomplishing and its plans for the future. Ray then brought us into the chassis room, machine shop and design area while introducing us to some of the technicians, engineers and machinists involved in this ambitious project. Fielding questions and describing the intricacies of the new Motoczysz C1 was only one of the highlights to our tour. |
