Conditions

Expect intermediate off-road traction conditions. Based on weather and trail state:

  • Loose or compacted gravel
  • Muddy, steep, and rutted sections
  • Evening riding extending past sunset
  • A mix of designated OHV trails and forest service roads

What this is / isn’t

What this is

  • An opprotunity to meet up and ride with friends
  • Maybe do some parking lot drills
  • A chance to practice picking up your bike when it falls over

What it isn’t

  • Race pace
  • Guided or supported
  • A club ride
  • Without risk

Expectations

  • Read and understand this brief before attending.
  • Be aware of Tillamook State Forest OHV Requirements.
  • Manage your individual safety and risk decisions.
  • Be capable of navigation (review maps/tools; have them available offline) - or pair up with someone who is.
  • Be capable of self-recovery and minor mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Know your bike, skills, and limits — ride accordingly.
  • Tell someone in town where you’re going, what you’re doing, and when you’ll check in.

These expectations aren’t meant to discourage newer riders. They exist to set clear expectations around preparedness and personal accountability.

Everyone is out to enjoy the ride and the forest, and we want everyone to make it through safely. Riders who arrive prepared to support themselves are better positioned to help others in need.

Know your abilities, communicate clearly, and ask for help early if you need it.
